On a rainy March 1st another step in the Heritage Project took shape as the Temporary School Office was brought in and leveled up. It looked pretty bleak as the rain continued throughout the morning, before the trailer arrived. As the delivery truck pulled in, the rain let up. We asked the driver if he thought he could get it in between the church and the old school building. Earlier in the week, we took out a large amount of very wet dirt and replaced it with crushed stone. After rolling in the crushed stone, we laid down plastic mats borrowed from ETC and extra mats another individual in preparation of pulling the trailer in with a piece of excavating equipment or more. The driver said he thought he could make it, so after moving the mats to accomodate the turn of the truck, the driver started accross the wet dirt and rock mixture. We could tell this driver was experienced, as he made the gentle turn he avoided the school building and the church and placed it perfectly where we wanted it. He did get stuck when a piece of plywood shot out from under one of the truck's drive wheels and the truck sank.
He was pulled out after the trailer was unhooked in the proper placed. By now the rain was really coming down again. The trailer was leveled and a temporary step set-up. The trailer is now supported with jack stands and tie downs. Skirting will be installed by the triailer company in the next couple of weeks. The water, sewer, electric and telephone/internet will be installed in the upcoming weeks by volunteers and ETC. An ADA ramp will be constructed on the Parish work day on March 17th.
