The Archdiocese had given St. Nicholas permission to proceed with Phase 1, the Education Center, contingent on 2 goals being met. Those goals were:
100% of the project goal is fully funded by the funds raised for the project and pledges of future donations towards the project ($3,000,000 for Phase 1); and
at least 50% of the project cost is in the bank ($1,500,000 for Phase 1).
We have achieved both goals for Phase 1, so we are approved to move forward with the Phase 1 construction. If necessary, St. Nicholas will borrow against future pledge payments from the Archdiocese. As future pledge payments come in, they will be applied toward the loan.
There are many ways to fulfill your pledge or to donate to the Heritage Project! Here are the two most common:
Cash or Check: Special “Blue Envelopes” marked with “The Heritage Project” should be used to make pledge payments or donations toward the project. The Blue Envelopes are provided in the rack at the back of Church. Please take as many as you need. Using the Blue Envelopes ensures your donation goes toward the Heritage Project and not in the general parish funds. On the Blue Envelope, please mark how your cash or check is to be applied - 1) part of your pledge; 2) in addition to your pledge; or 3) a one-time gift.
Electronic Payment: Each donor needs to set this up themselves since it requires your banking information. To set it up, go to our parish website at www.stnicholas-sunman.org; click on “On-Line Giving” and follow the prompts to setup your account. Be sure to select the “Heritage Project” gift name and to “Confirm” the transaction once all information is entered. Remember, On-Line Giving is also available for Sunday and special collections; many people find it easy to use and simpler than remembering to bring your envelopes to Mass!
Did you know that there are special tax advantages to donating stock or retirement funds to the parish? Consult your tax advisor for more details. Information about how to transfer funds to the parish are in the literature rack in the entryway to the church.
